I'm moving to Rancho Cordova. As per CA law is it required to take a 2 Bed Room apartment for a family with 1 child (18 Months) ?

Are you saying you want a one bedrrom for your family? Do you co-sleep?

I don't know if it's a law - but I wouldn't want my toddler around in my bedroom. My kids have slept in their cribs/beds in their own rooms since they were a few weeks old.

That sounds really squished

I believe that the law is two folks max to a bedroom. I had heard about this a year ago, but not specifically tied to Rancho Cordova. I think it has to do with minimizing multiple families sharing homes or apartments.

Per the California Apartment Association (CAA):

"Owners must be reasonable when setting occupancy limits for their rental units. They cannot set unreasonable occupancy limits to avoid renting to a class of people—such as families with children or immigrants. Occupancy standards that are based on objective criteria, such as square footage, facilities, or open space are more likely to be viewed as reasonable by the courts."

It appears each property owner has the authority to use their own discretion when setting their occupancy limits for their property (within reason)...
