Traveling to Sacramento this weekend to narrow down where I will move to and am interested in the East Sac/Land Park area. Can anyone recommend any apartment complexes in this area? Would like to keep it $1100 or under for a 2 bedroom if at all possible. Would like a safe neighborhood (gated would be a plus but not required) where I can walk to a bar or coffee shop or have access to bike paths or nice place to walk my dog. Any suggestions?

You won't find much in the way of gated areas, and there aren't many complexes in general. There are some smaller structures with 2 to 10 units, but only the occasional real complex in those areas in particular. More in East Sac, which I don't spend as much time in, so maybe someone can offer better suggestions. But I'd suggest looking around and Craigslist and trying to set up some appointments to view places over the weekend. You should be able to find something in that price range without too much trouble. Maybe not a detached house, but half a duplex, a granny flat, or something like that. These are safe neighborhoods so I wouldn't expect too many problems.

As an example, this one's near my house--can't vouch for the place (looks slightly shabby, but more than livable) but the location is awesome. Across from a cafe, near a corner store, next to a park (with off-leash hours for the pooch), and walking distance to a lot. Quaint townhouse in Curtis Park!!

One precaution though when looking for these things on Craigslist is that when they claim to be in a certain "neighborhood", it doesn't mean they're actually there. "South Land Park" might mean *very* south--essentially a different development. Curtis Park might actually mean Oak Park (which has its own charm, but edgy, gritty, and not as safe). East Sac or Midtown might mean UCD Med Center or North Oak Park.
