Hi guys,

I'm going to be staying in short term housing in Sacramento area for 2-3 months before moving back to Bay Area.

I'm looking at the area around:

11299 Point E. Dr.
Rancho Cordova, CA 95742

Do you guys know how safe this area is?

Thanks!

It's probably one of the "better" commercial areas between the freeway & Folsom Blvd & light rail. You've got a saturday farmer's market in the light rail parking lot. There's lots of restraurant options nearby & also going north on Sunrise. There may be lots of traffic as you are in an adult entertainment district.

There is a rail spur that goes down Folsom Blvd that at one time used to connect Sacramento and Folsom. They later used part of that right of way to build Sacramento's light rail system. Originally because of the rail line, the neighborhood was zoned for warehouses and light industrial uses. Strip clubs in Sacramento County have to stay a certain distance away from other strip clubs, churches, schools and residences. So they tend to end up in neighborhoods zoned for warehouses and light industrial uses.

I wouldn't say the neighborhood is dangerous as much as its kind of boring and kind of ugly. You aren't too far from where most of the auto dismantlers are located in the region. The warehouses were built in the 1980's and 1990's and are generally non-descript. I think there is a home depot kitty corner from the hotel you are staying at. The one advantage of the neighborhood is that there is bike trail that you can pick up at Point East Drive and Citrus Road, that will connects the area to the American River Bike Trail system. If it were me, I would bring a bike with you and take some bike trips out along the American River bike trail via Gold River.

So the overall consensus is that it's safe, just ugly? I don't care about ugly. I just need a safe place to live for the next 2 months or so before I move back to Bay Area.

I work from home, so I won't need to commute or go out much except for fun (which I'll probably drive to Bay Area for).

Also, how is this area in Rancho Cordova:

10721 White Rock Rd.
Rancho Cordova, CA 95670

Thanks!

Regarding 10721 White Rock Rd. Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 .....This immediate area is all office buildings ,some hotels, and retail. Lots of office workers in the area (like myself) during the weekdays. Weeknights and weekends would be quieter without all the workers around. Just walking distance down the street going south on Zinfindel is a nice newer shopping center with a Starbucks, Chili's, Lowes, and several other smaller food shops. I don't know the specific crime stats , but it should be considered a pretty safe area for Rancho Cordova.

The neighborhood immediately across the freeway between Folsom Blvd and 50 isn't so great. There is a bike pedestrian bridge that connects White Rock Road via White Rock Park and that probably makes it easier for someone looking for trouble to try to break into your car. Of the two addresses you listed, I would probably prefer the 11299 Point E. Dr. location to the White Rock Road location.
