Anyone on here currently live in the Beechwood neighborhood? Is the area getting any better? any worse? I used to have friends on Grand Avenue near Culver Road but since they moved I have not had a chance to get out that way.
I grew up next to that neighborhood around Clifford ave. I still live in that general area, but on the Irondequoit side. Its not what it used to be, but its not a total ghetto like some people would like to think. Not a friendly neighborhood like it used to be, thats for sure.
One of my sons lives on Grand, would not be my choice but he likes city living. Been there for less than a year and so far they took his snow shovel off the porch along with an item in his fenced back yard. He has grapes, he drove around in his spare time and found the stuff on a "neighbor's" porch and reacquired it. Not my ideal of a neighborhood.

I live on Grand, but its east of Culver. I not exactly sure if we are part of North Winton/Beechwood/Merchants etc. But I do feel safe on this part of the st. We can barley see Culver and thats good for a safety point of view.
Ok...showing some of my ignorance of the city...but I always thought that Beechwood was Rocket Street and its intersecting streets?
Nope, Beechwood is actually pretty well defined, between Bay st on the north, Goodman on the west, Culver on the East and Main st (or the tracks) on the south. So it includes most of Grand St.
I'm not sure what you'd call that neighborhood around Rocket St. I have seen it referred to on maps as Homestead Heights but since I've never known anyone who lived there I can't say for sure.
Intresting...that map has "culver-winton" as one large neighborhood. I've always heard it referred to as two separate neighborhoods "north winton village" and "South Culver". I guess in all reality neighborhood names and boundaires are pretty subjective.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Merchants is considered a neighborhood too.
How is Northland-Lyceum? It didn't seem to be that bad from my time driving on Goodman going into Irondequoit. It seems like the further away from Main St. you go on Goodman, the better it gets.
