Ok, we covered the weather in Rochester now how about the food?

Long Island sets the bar very high when it comes to Italian restaurants, pizza, bagels and most important Chinese food.

How's does Rochester compare?

There are many good places to eat in the area. Great Italian food since there seems to be a large Italian-American population. Mr. Dominics and Roncones were good. There are a couple of great bbq places; Dinosaur and Sticky Lips. Sticky Lips has a veggie bbq which is susposed to be good. The bagels won't compare to the bagels in the NYC area, but that is just my opinion. There are many great little ethnic places to eat, but I can't recall names. The park ave area has a few of these places. If you wander around the area, you will find something you like. As far as chinese goes, I found it to be basically the same as everywhere else i've been to in the northeast, but I'm not huge on chinese.

Mr Dominics on the lake has great italian food. It's on Lake Avenue just down the street from Abbotts (if you don't know what Abbots is, go to Rochester durring summer and you can't miss it) and Ontaro Beach Park. I went there when I was up in Rochester this July and it was great. Also, Baccos Ristorrante in the Park Avenue area is supposed to be great, but I've never been there.

Default vegetarian

I know when we visited this summer there were a least a couple of vegetarian restaurants... one was a Mediterranean one.

A garbage plate is a layer of mac salad and home fries topped with two cheeseburgers. A unique meaty hot sauce with onions, mustard and ketchup goes on top and you mix it all together. I love them and they are more popular with the younger crowd. Several places have these around town.
