Thanks to everyone who posts here...this is such an excellent source of info for people looking to relocate to the area.
I am considering moving to Rochester for a job offer I have just received and was hoping to get some advice on what area might be right for me from some of you familiar with the area. A little about me...I have spent much time in WNY so i'm quite familiar with, and not afraid of the the cold/snow and weather. I actually enjoy it. I am a single male in my late 20's, and have a dog. I live a rather quiet lifestyle, but would like to have the opportunity to be involved in some nightlife, and meet some people of similar ages. That being said I don't need a bar at every corner, but would like to have one or two that would be rather easy to access in the event I wanted to go out. I would be working right in the city, and have a car so a reasonable commute would be fine, but I don't want to spend half the day in the car. I would initially be looking to rent a small house (2 bdrm's or so) with a budget around $700-$1000 per month, ideally with a little land or access to outdoor activities. Is that doable??
Any advice on what areas to look for housing? I'd be interested in what areas of the city might fit my lifestyle, as well as any suburbs that might be nice? I'd appreciate any advice anyone might have.
Live in the City, don't worry about having a little land around your house. (In your price range, you won't get into the nice suburbs, which would bore you anyway.) Access to outdoor activities is everywhere in Rochester, since you have a car.
There is a ton of opinion on City neighborhoods on this forum - search around.
Lol you get 100% for effort . I'm not bitting .Good Luck.
Yeah, what are you talking about? Either you can help the guy out or not. Writing something cryptic or something amusing to yourself is a waste of his time and your own.

yes, the thousands of people that go to the East End, Monroe, South Wedge, and St Paul areas are just a figment of my imagination. Not sure what "nite" life is anyways.
Thanks for the responses everyone....very helpful. Any opinions on Greece? From what i've been able to find, it seems like a nice suburb, a little cheaper housing than most, while still having a good sized population, a bit of a downtown scene and close proximity to Rochester itself.
Greece is nice. There are certain parts I would not live in, but most of it is fine. It is close to the city. It has zero downtown/village area though. It's is more of a sprawly strip mall type town, so you are close to shopping.
