Hello,

Currently I live in Fairfield County, CT and work in operations and trading at an investment firm there.

Due to some family circumstances we're looking to move to the Rochester, Victor, Canandaigua area.

1st question is... area there any/many investment or financial firms around the Rochester area?

2nd question... which towns would have the better schools and anemities in the area yet still be close to Canandaigua lake?

Really appreciate the help!

Canandaigua and Victor are good school districts. Pittsford and Honeoye Falls-Lima are also good and are still pretty cloe to Canandaigua Lake.

As for firms, this website might help: Central New York Jobs

Honeoye Falls, and areas generally around there are nice and have good schools. This would include Pittsford, Mendon, and over into NW Ontario Cty. and northern Livingston Cty.

Canandaigua is a jewel of a town with a picturesque main street and elegant victorian homes extending north from the lake. I understand Canandaigua city schools are quite good. I also understand that the city has quite a few "ex-pats" from Silicon Valley and Greenwich and that there is a growing technology/finance culture there. It may be worth looking into.

You can't go wrong with Pittsford, Mendon or Honeoye Falls either. Pittsford is closest to the city of Rochester and those amenities. There are a number of wealth management firms located in that area that service the generally affluent local population. There is also a well-respected mutual fund company based in Rochester - I am blinking on the name.

Sage Rutty and Brighton Securities are the first that come to mind. Most of the "franchise" investment / fnancial companies have branch offices in Rochester as well. I'll second both HowardRourke's take on where to live and doggz take on Canandaigua. Best of luck!

Ontario County was recently rated as the best "rural" county in America to live in. I don't know if I'd consider it a strictly "rural" county anymore as it is one of the fastest growing counties in the state and has over 100k in population; towns live Victor and Farmington in Ontario County are now essentially suburbs of Rochester. Canandaigua is a little further out (though that's only "far out" in terms of Rochester geography, it's still within 30-40 minutes of downtown Rochester) but as others have said it is a beautiful little town right on Canandaigua lake.

I'm not in the finance field so I unfortunately I can't really offer any advice about that.

The mutual fund company I was thinking of is Manning and Napier based in Fairport, I think.
