We're visiting Col. Williamsburg this weekend for the first time ever.

I'm hoping you can suggest restaurants inside Col. Williamsburg and in Williamsburg proper.

Thanks!

Alley

Not very familiar with Williamsburg but I always hear good things about The Trellis and their "Death By Chocolate" cake.

Are you going w/ the kids? If not, then Fat Canary was great. With the kids, Pierce's BBQ is good and not too far from Colonial Williamsburg.

The Trellis is SUPER expensive, slow, fancy, etc. Nice, but I hear the new chef has really changed things, and portions are very small for $30-40 an entree. The Gazebo is great for breakfast w/kids. The Cheese Shop downtown has fabulous sandwiches, but it used to be takeout only, and it's probably too cold right now to eat outside. There's a really wonderful deli a few blocks from Colonial Williamsburg - I think it's the College Deli? Very casual, fast, and great sandwiches. If you ask downtown someone will definitely know of it, it's an institution.

Maurizio's is fabulous. It's NOT in the Colonial Williamsburg area, but closer to Busch Gardens. Seems like more of a local joint. I've been there twice and will go back again when I'm in the area. Great bread, wonderful lasagna, nice wine selection and great service. Small and not too pricey. We went with kids both times but its not necessarily a family place.

Captain George's Seafood Restaurant

It's primarily a seafood buffet with desserts as well...it's quite expensive to me [$28 a person] but they have SOOO much food. Well worth it.

They also have chicken, veggies, ect.

Two of my long-time favorites:
The Cheese Shop – Casual deli right in the thick of things at Merchants Square. Can get crowded and take a while to be served, so you might want to look at the menu online and call your order in for quicker pickup at the side window. Welcome to The Cheese Shop ~ Merchants Square Williamsburg, Virginia

Le Yaca – French, lunch and dinner. In a local strip mall between CW and Busch Gardens, so not too dressy, but nice. Menu is more "country French" than classic. French cuisine in Williamsburg, Virginia, fine wines, Special Events, Business Lunches, and Banquet Rooms

Best of luck

Pierces used to have a great reputation, but eating there a couple of months ago was very disappointing. Basically fast food, not bbq
