Johnson’s problem is his mouth is making promises his checkbook can’t cover. He talks about all he accomplished in pro soccer, but most of what he says is either exaggerated or outright lies. Fortuitous seems to be tool Johnson uses to convince other people to put up their money to back his investments. Time for Pawtucket and RI officials to tell Johnson he either brings in reputable local business person as majority partner in RIFC or public money is pulled and project is done. We need a soccer version of Ben Mondor leading this project. We got Curt Schilling 2.0 instead.
And what am I missing? The proposal from 2019 included McCoy Stadium.
Yep. Another Brett Johnson story that changed as project moved forward. Soccer stadium was planned for Tidewater site on west side of river. Residential and entertainment complex on Division Street on east side of river. Indoor sports event center, hotel, conference center and other commercial development where Apex is located. And McCoy Stadium land was supposed to be a youth sports complex with fields that could be used for soccer, lacrosse and rugby. Johnson promised a lot and has been failing to keep his promises ever since.

If we’d known the twists and turns that the soccer stadium construction “ride” was going to take us on, we could have had the facility built at Rocky Point State Park, RIFC’s logo could have featured the Corkscrew, and the team nickname could have been the RollerCoasters.
Wow, Rocky Point would have been an awesome location..surprised no one thought of it.

The latter has to be the only option at this point.
Time to pull plug. How can Johnson be trusted at this point? By anyone? State of RI and Pawtucket city officials should be asking Johnson tough questions and demanding answers. People who paid for season ticket deposits should be calling RIFC office and doing the same thing. Same goes for Bryant officials and other companies RIFC has done business with. Have Johnson and RIFC paid their bills in full to vendors that make all the souvenirs for the team store? Go Local Prov should do some digging about that. Front office employees RIFC hired so far must be wondering whether their checks are going to clear every payday. It is shameful what Johnson is doing and even more shameful that RI officials aren’t demanding answers.

It is time to pull the plug. I wonder, though, if that's legally possible. I mean, this guy has put millions in already. Would the city of Pawtucket have to give him the money he's already put in? Can the city just break the contract?
What's ridiculous about it? A stadium by the bay is better than one by the river!
Because unlike the Pawtucket location, it's far from the highway and it's also not close to the target demographic.
