Another idea....always check the online coupon sites (just Google for a list of them) to see what coupons are available before you go shopping. Even saving $5 on a purchase is worth the time! Have saved as much as $100, though on some things from Home Depot and Lowes online because I had the coupon promo codes.

When the hot summer comes around, I sometimes have a taste for some of the frozen juices. What I do I dilute them with much more water than is on the can. I find them too sweet, especially the canned lemonades. The real juices, like concord grape can easily be diluted and still quench your thirst. I prefer concentrates that are just juice.

For a good Orange Drink, I just dilute regular Orange juice--these real juices are much healthier for the kids with less sugar. I notice when the little ones visit, they do not notice because I garnish their glasses with an orange slice or an apple slice for diluted apple juice.

In addition, I make colored ice cubes, not soft like a popsicles, but just enough juice to give it color--and then I mix the different color cubes in their glass with the diluted juice with a fruit garnish--the kids think it is a fancy summer drink, and they eat the fruit.

I rarely buy bottled juices as concentrates are more economical. Cool Aide, I would never buy.

Many times I just buy a bunch of limes, oranges and lemons and just a little squeeze in ice water is all I need--without sugar.

Always ask in deparment stores if there is a senior discount. That also goes for resaurants and anyplace else you do buisness. I was surprised to learn my local variety store, Fred Meyers, has a 10% discount for Seniors every Tuesday.

If you can, ditch the car. It will save you plenty. Estate sales are great for nice furniture at a fraction of retail price. Other items can be found there as well. Some local movie theaters will show second and third run or not so popular movies at half the cost of a regular theater. We had one that showed an "offbeat" movie no one in my area had ever heard of. They played if for weeks and it became so popular they kept holding it over. It only cost $3.50 to see.
Then the acadamy awards came out and they were really innundated. The movie was "Slumdog Landlord." And after the Oscars, everyone wanted to see it.
Hotels have senior discounts if you travel. AARP has discount coupons if you join them and all sorts of tips on how to live inexpensively.
