OP, when you say, "you took retirement at 62 to get $466 per month, does that mean you took reduced SS at 62? (... and are now hoping to increase that to the age 65 rate?). -- I wasn't aware one could do that.
Obviously, you will need to clarify this with SS, but, I'm wondering if the SSI program applies to this situation. (I've often worked with lower income older folks and am curious about this on their behalf).

YES...i read for years how ssi eligibility other than handicaped is age which they have a minimum...
i have know many people who got a disability check under the minimum and then got a supplemental check to equal that minimum of 785 or so
i dont think this is a common thing but as i have read the rules one qualifies simply by age regardless of work history
in a roundabout way if older adults do not have this it seems one MUST apply lol
It's called "supplemental" SSI, and you have to make an appointment to talk to someone at your SS office.
I have a friend who gets it. Her SS is around $580/mo, and she gets around $300/mo from SSI.
