Interesting thread. One sometime wonders what happened to dormant posters. I for one, have been diagnosed with stage 4 adeno-carcinoma lung cancer. and not sure why I feel compelled to share that---
Except, as a Christian believer, I'm somewhat excited by the prospects of 'going home soon .... and of having a wonderful opportunity to say goodbye to friends, family and loved ones on my terms and timing. I may write more as time passes.
Glad you shared. You can teach some of us a lot about going home soon!
I've learned a lot from mathjak and usually agree with him on most topics. Although we have very different retirements, different incomes, different expenses, different states, etc, I find that we have a lot in common, and he's turned me on to some very helpful information that will affect my long term financial stability in retirement. So I owe him my gratitude.
Like all advice, I take what works for me, and leave the rest.
AksarbeN just stopped posting. His last post was on 10-04-20. He was a frequent poster, very friendly, and it would be unlike him to just leave. But he was old and had health issues, so I suspect he is no longer with us. I miss him, too. He was such a nice man.
He sure was! I exchanged dm's from him for years! I post on the Nebraska forum at times and his input was very valuable, he knew pretty much the entire state as well as one can. I knew he was up there in age but I never really asked him what he was facing. He really made my day several years ago, I don't post very often in the music sub forum anymore but when I do it's always information. I'm just not a you tube guy. And he sent me a note on my activity there, it was one of the greatest, if not the greatest compliment I'd ever received. A great, great guy!
Given how many people he's helped with his intricate knowledge of Social Security and other subjects, you'd probably be outvoted 20:1 on that sentiment.

I apologize if I missed it but Piney Creek from Williamsburg VA posted some really interesting observations about retiring in that area. Any recent updates on her?

I have missed her, too. I exchanged a few DMs with her, a while back, and she later disclosed newly diagnosed health issues. I checked in with her later but didn’t hear back.
I am on here frequently but I don't always notice absences because there is so much activity.
I definitely appreciated mathjak and for sure he was super helpful regarding social security. I am pretty savvy financially, but I didnt know much about social security and when he kind of agreed with what I might do, I felt like I was golden.
I never saw him being unkind.
I am also very sorry to read that dghorton is ailing.
Indeed one of the best posters we've ever had here. Personally, I think when you have a poster of that caliber special efforts ought to be made to retain them. I will say no more.
Mathjak:
We miss you!
