We spend winters in the FL Keys and have seen it all. Apparently some women do not care how they look as long as they are comfortable. Since most are seniors no one seems to care either.
You're more than welcome to come out here.
I know from watching the movies, television, and looking at fashion magazines, one thinks that the state abounds with fashion police and fat patrols that will shred your psyche and cause insufferable humiliation but when you get here and walk around, you'll see that people just don't care because only the 1% survive in the visual arts.
Now if you want to hang out with the teen aged High Schoolers, all bets are off as they can be brutal towards us adults.
But just remember that they too one day will get old.
Go to a nudist resort or beach. It will help you get over your body issues. IN reality, no one cares and you really just look like everyone else your age, and probably better. Why forego the enjoyment of swimming and being in the water?
Yes. In the 1970's my ex-wife and I belonged to a nudist resort for two or three years. At first I was quite amazed at the range of heaviness among the members and guests. I silently saluted the courage of the heavier people, as well as their self-acceptance.
I have not worn a swimsuit in years due to vanity (I know, I know -- at 63, it is way past time I get over it), but I am planning a California vacation and I would love to sun and swim at the pool and beach. I don't have a "terrible" body -- I'm a curvy size 6/8, but I have heavy, fatty thighs and "old" skin -- but I just can't get over the idea that I shouldn't subject myself or others to the sight of me more than half-naked.
Size 6/8? Seriously...put on a suit and have a great time! As I have gotten older and no longer obsessed with working out, etc...I just wear what is comfy...there are tons of teens and 20-somethings who are morbidly obese and wearing yoga pants and swimsuits. You have nothing to be worried about! Enjoy! Buy a cute coverup or sarong too if that makes you feel more comfortable.
You look fabulous and I love the shot of you diving. I never learned to dive like that. How I wish that I had. I'm jealous!
You are kind to say so. My mother made each of her children learn to swim at a very young age and the diving just became a part of that. The hardest part of that particular dive was getting back up the rope ladder on our old sailboat.
