The problem with most single American men is they never travel so they have no idea the benefits of living in Peru, and the huge volumes of available beautiful YOUNG single women. Most American men marry the AW or American woman and have multiple kids then get stuck like chuck. They can't leave because the wife will get everything. By the time the husband gets fed up he is late 50s, 60s, 70s. American men are so uninformed when it comes to women, and American women have all the power today sadly. I know tons of successful smart independent self employed American men living in Peru, Chile, Brazil and they are living like Kings dating beautiful YOUNG women in their 20s! Being treated like a Saudi Prince. Fit, slim, non demanding young women at your beck and call. I love Peru and I'm headed back soon. If only America and our feminist bossy manly women where like Peruvian women....ah, only in my dreams!

Of course I have no idea what life is like in Peru because I've never been there. I did live in Europe at one time and travelled extensively there. Your condescension is misplaced because it's a good bet that very few posters in this City-Data Retirement Forum have been to Peru. There are many countries in the world, and very few people have been to all of them.

You did explain yourself in subsequent posts, so now I understand what you meant. And no, I don't want riddles; in fact I was objecting to your posting in riddles (now cleared up).

I am truly sorry about your painful negative experiences of marriage and divorce; you, like so many men in this country, were taken to the cleaners, both financially and emotionally. Too bad it's left you so bitter; you will be better off if you can somehow get beyond the bitterness. We can only hope that poster Alpine Prince will have a happier outcome, i.e., that his wife has a stronger moral sense and is as truly devoted to him as he is to her. That is possible, you know, despite the experience of you and others to the contrary.

I can't help you, but i am not sure such a place exists, since a multitude of "goods" generally means a very high cost of living.

Texdav makes a good point, with wife and kids medical insurance costs will probably exceed the amount he will receive in SS. Since Alpine is so successful, he may not qualify for subsidies. And the cost of living in any place that meets his criteria will not be cheap. Even after he is dead, the SS for dependent children won't be nearly enough to live on.

jajaja No more bitter Missy. I live in Peru and have 4 beautiful YOUNG women living in my home. If only more American men knew their incredible options for meeting beautiful young women half their age!

Alpineprince is extremely smart to leave the U.S., especially the god awful women here. If ony more men knew what they could get OUT of America!

You keep emphasizing "YOUNG" women as if that somehow makes them special or better than the alternative. I disagree. In my experience while living in other countries a great many of the young women latching onto OLDER men, especially westerners and Europeans, are looking more at their resources than their pedigrees and personalities. By the way, it doesn't make those OLDER men anything special either.

Now then, I'm decidedly OLDER and I'll happily hang-on to my OLDER, American wife thank you very much. We share experiences, culture, memories, et al. I find those invaluable. That's why, when I contemplated getting married again following a divorce, I "bought American." Those who consider American women awful are most generally those who simply don't/can't attract them.

I'm a single guy and been to Peru twice (two weeks each time) and beautiful women is not what came to mind. At all. I was actually rather shocked by the amount of obesity.

Health insurance is certainly a concern and the reason we will not make any definitive plans before the SCOTUS decision in late June. For myself I will be covered by medicare by the time we move. We plan to keep our income at about 70k or so and maximize the HC subsidy and fit into the neighborhood. I have budgeted 700/mth for HC insurance. We will try to keep our HC in Peru in the event of a major uncovered event in the USA as our HC here covers Cancer and transplants.

I plan on renting a nice apartment for under $1500.00/mth, in the event we wish to stay longer, I will sell my condo here and buy a place in the US for 300k-400k and use the $1500/mth savings for upkeep and taxes.
