Do you spend time at your local senior center? Do you belong to any social clubs? Thanks...

We have two very nice senior centers in the Dover, DE area, and there are others throughout the state. They offer the usual, meals, trips, bingo, exercise, etc. Very nice for those needing a place to go. Meals on Wheels is also a program they offer to shut-ins, or those with no transportation. Most of the local senior centers I've heard of, are well run, I've been told.

I don't belong to a senior center, or any social clubs because I'm self-employed, and on-the-go with this business. Husband and I travel throughout the state on an, almost, daily basis, so we vacation, sight-see, have lunch and/or dinner, and work at the same time. I did want to join the Newcomers Club in our area, but there's no time for that. I do think it's very important for seniors to socialize and keep active, though. I hadn't planned on being "this active" at 70 years old, but I think I was destined to do what I do, which includes interacting with different people all day long. If I had nothing else to do, I'd definitely join a social club, but it would have to be one that's interesting, not just a place to eat.

Do others belong to senior centers or social clubs? And, are they enjoyable?

We find our senior centers are not for us. Too many old people sitting around playing cards. We're too active with places to go, people to see.
