Well not a TINY apartment, but it's not huge like a house (only 1325 sq ft). I'd like to invite 5 couples. We all have kids, so that would be about 21 people total.

I guess my question is... Is it rude to my guests to do so? we have a large 6 chair dining table, a couch large enough for 4 people, 2 easy chairs and 2 folding chairs. Plus outside on the patio we have 2 chairs.

We aren't loud people and neither are our guests, so it wouldn't bother our neighbors. I just haven't lived in an apartment since high school, so I don't really know if this is doable.

You should check and see if you are allowed to have a party. I'm not.

You're looking at 12 adults, providing al 5 couple show up. Your dining room table seats 6. Where are the other 6 people going to eat?

I would opt for drinks and appetizers.

we're allowed to have parties.

Paula, I was thinking that people could sit in the living room (it's all one large open area). We have room for 6 in here also. Plus, there's the patio w/ 4 chairs out there... no? too much?

If you're worried that your apartment may not be roomy enough for the comfort of so many guests, my suggestion would be to have a trial run with about half as many guests. See how that goes, and if it's alright have a few more guests at the next one. It just seems to me that it would reallyreally suck for everyone involved if the apartment is indeed too small to handle the crowd.

I agree, in fact I would not even go, I do not want to get dressed up then eat on the sofa balancing my plate on my knees. Why don't you guys all meet up for dinner out instead?

Timm, that's a great idea.

BigD, I wouldn't want people to dress up. Casual only. But I can't afford to treat that many people to dinner out a restaurant. That would be really expensive.

Nicole,

What type of food would you be serving? I agree with BigD, some guests may not want to eat on the couch, balancing their plates (that was my initial thought) And having people eat outside in the patio, to me, sounds impersonal.

I still would go for a cocktail party. Lots of yummy appetizers and assorted drinks. Don't forget a fancy dessert!

Paula, that's what I was thinking. TONS of appetizers. Some easy cocktails, beer, soda, wine, water, coffee...
