Hello all, so I was just curious to know, from the experienced people out there, approximately how long it takes for a yes or no answer on an application. I put my application in on a house on Friday, and was told I would hear back from them the same day on approval or not. So far, however, I have been getting the runaround answers of "we are slammed, we are working on it, and we should have an answer by Monday at the latest". I called today, and the person I am working with said she will look into it. Its getting frustrating because we finally found a nice rental, out of dozens, and I don't want someone else moving under us and taking it. Any advice on timelines for applications? Thanks all.

If someone else wants to know, it can take me 3-4 days to do a screening. There is the issue of getting people to call me back.

Weekends and holidays slow the process down. Occasionally, the criminal background check won't come back on a weekend. Sometimes a business is closed on the weekend so I can't verify employment.

I have to go down to the county courthouse and they are closed on the weekend and holidays.
