I am fascinated with this site and so am curious to see what this query might bring. I am posting this question on several forums. I currently live in New Mexico with a beautiful, close-up view of craggy, mountain peaks. I am feeling a sense of wanderlust, however. While I feel the desire to move I am not quick to give up a majestic, snow-peaked mountain view. Any ideas? (no Oregon/Washington not on the plate. Been there. Done that. Want something new) Thanks.

Here's a pic, already posted in the Minden, NV, page on this site, of one of the mountains to the west of town. It's the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. This range is close to town and runs N/S through the County.

It's also the same mountian range that greatbasinguide mentioned down in California (Bishop, Lone Pine, etc.), which is a few hours or more south of Minden. Some areas are similar in look with the trees, while other parts get more craggy and have fewer trees, if any.

Click here to the one picture

Here's another photo of the mountian range that fills the valley views:

Most of the Reno area has good mountain views. It is surrounded on all 4 sides.
