I'm considering a move to Nevada later this year. I'm on the verge of retirement, have lived in Chicago (40 yrs) and the village of Pennsdale, Pennsylvania (last 20). I drove through the area on a road trip back in 2009, and it looked like an area I would like.

What I'm looking for:
A small house large enough for one adult with two Border Collies;
an office area would be nice. (is $50K - $75K feasible?)
Away from urban areas, secluded but not hermit-like away;
neighbors a mile or so away would be about right.
Space for the dogs to run off leash.
A reliable internet connection. (Satellite is a possiblity.) Part of my
income will come from on-line.
Food and supplies available within about 45 min. one-way.
Be able to use Reno/Tahoe/Sparks/Carson City for an urban fix.
Privacy is important, as I would like to spend more time enjoying
a nudist lifestyle.

Just based on mapquesting Nevada, I think that the area would probably be from Bordertown down to Gardnerville.

I'm open to both wooded and desert landscapes, and very interested in camping and "exploring".

Any info and/or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Default Stage Coach, huh? OK

Thanks for the recommendation. Stage Coach seems to be very close to Silver Springs. What's the area like?

How about further south, say around Death Valley?

Any other suggestions about a remote place to live?

Check out the assessor’s web site (Property Assessment Data Search), you can bring up an address in an area you are interested in, then click on the map (or parcels) to find out what homes sold for in that area along with how the surrounding area looks.

You could also check out surrounding areas like Lovelock (a little further out, but a nice community).

Silver and Stage are also close to Dayton Carson and Fallon, Smack in the middle of the 3 towns i mentioned.

I have driven through. there is a lot of land not that many people. You have one main Supermarket Smiths and a few fast food places and Casinos. The properties are very cheap and you can also get some land.

Death Valley. Is HOTTT In the summer you're close to Vegas. Lots of tourists and not too far away is Area 51. They have a lot of Truckers and about 5 brothels close by.

I have some suggestions for you . Walker Lake, Hawthorn, Tonapah, all three are few hours each from Reno and Vegas.

here is a link for WLake. Walker Lake Interpretive Association-History

here is a link for Tonapah http://www.tonopahnevada.com/
