Could it be that it wasn't Adam, and is our nearest relative is not a chimp?

From what I know, the common ancestor of chimps and man was about 6 million yeras back, while that of orangutans and man was 15 million years ago. So it doesn't seem likely.

From what I know, my most distant relative is a guy named Adam, and he lived somewhere in the Iran area.

No, it's not what you know; it's what the myth you believe tells you. Personally I'm leaning towards the Orang....He looks like such a peaceful laid back fellow...
