I was wondering if there were any people like me who had the same out look on life as I have recently taken on (within the past two years).
Now, I recognize we only have a certain amount of time left on this planet. As the old saying goes, "work to live, not live to work," I find myself wondering if there is really a higher cause for our existence, or if the human life just runs its course like other insects and animals.
Was my neighbor really placed here for a purpose? Furthermore, what constitutes a "successful" life anyways? Is success measured in money collected and valuables gained?
In search of these answers, I have recently quit my job. Some may call me stupid in tough economical times as these, but I am in search of what life is about and plan to do a little bit of soul searching. The current life I had lived was 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., chained to a desk, Monday through Friday. Now, I may find myself on the streets here in a month, or two, but who is to say that it's not "the higher beings" will?
I find myself enjoying a bike ride, the outdoors and noticing the smaller things in life. I observe the people getting their coffee early in the morning, enroute in a hurry to their jobs. It is almost like the Matrix, in which all humans were grown as batteries.
I could just as well be content living in a small shack somewhere with my basic needs of life meant. I am wondering if there are any more people out there that share the same "contentness," in life that I have recently taken on? It seems from an early age, we are all taught to "achieve the American dream, to work, work, work." At which point does all that work transform into actual living? Or, is life just work?
Some of my friends think that I am delusional, but I have taken this time as a "time out," from the nine to five grind. During this time, I plan to live life. When I do decide to jump in the rat race again, I will be faced with yet another problem - finding out how to get paid for what I love to do (workout, and think).
