He was one of my favorites so I feel bad too. George Carlin and Richard Pryor could crack me up more than anyone else ever has and now they're both gone. Very sad.
I loved George in my pagan youth, and still respect is wit.
He gave this Christian the opportunity to laugh at himself, and a desire for greater introspection.
Yet I believe the only thing that seperates comedy from tragedy is time,
Oh , I loved George Carlins humor about words and jargon and when he fiest started in the late 70's (?) and 80's I looked forward to him on SNL..I haven't seen much of him in the past several years though..
I didn't always agree with him, but I certainly admired his outspoken attitude. He never did "beat around the bush" and always said what he thought. In his later years his act was more social commentary than comedy, but he still managed to do it in a funny way most of the time. I think he will always be with us thanks to Youtube.
Thank you, Deb!
That is a truly great bit and I haven't heard it in a long time.
I love the way that he viewed life.
Unfortunately, the death had not sunk in yet and now I'm really sad.
<-- My first emoticon ever. R.I.P. George Carlin.
I remember, many long years ago, cracking up at Carlin's comment about what humans are for: ...Plastic's way of making more plastic!
He was one funny guy...
