The Freedom From Religion Foundation sued the Chino Valley school board to stop praying during their meetings, and won. Time to award penalaties and costs.
Well, Judge JESUS G. Bernal awarded $202,000 to the FFRF in the suit, and it appears that the school board members themselves, rather than the taxpayer, are liable.
Lawdy, Lawd! Da Lawd works in funny and mysterious ways.
Take that for those who don't understand what the First Amendment is all about!

Maybe Chino Valley school board should have followed the Constitution and SCOTUS decisions. What a concept for an American, huh?
FFRF protects your and everyone else's right. Nice to see that Judge Jesus said not the taxpayers, but the elected officials had to pay personally. That may perk up a few ears in other parts of the country who think they can hide behind the veil of government.

It discourages the religious from trying to use the power and influence of the State to advance their religion, of course it improves society! A society in which every individual is free to practice their religion (within the confines of secular law) without official censure, marginalization, or repression is a good thing.

It's not a good thing because Jeff doesn't get to ride rough shod over other people.

There's nothing in the Contitution that says you have the right to be shielded from any public exposure of religion. Also, the Supreme Court has ruled that prayer in public meetings is perfectly fine.
Quote:
A divided Supreme Court ruled Monday that legislative bodies such as city councils can begin their meetings with prayer, even if it plainly favors a specific religion.
The court ruled 5 to 4 that Christian prayers said before meetings of an Upstate New York town council did not violate the constitutional prohibition against government establishment of religion; the justices cited history and tradition.
“Ceremonial prayer is but a recognition that, since this Nation was founded and until the present day, many Americans deem that their own existence must be understood by precepts far beyond the authority of government,” Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote for the court’s conservative majority.
Jeff, you'd be singing a different tune if the prayers were Muslim prayers.
