What is your favorite bible story movie? Many of them out there, but they may not be accurate, true to the story. What do you recommend?

As an atheist I am inclined to walk out after the first five minutes of any of them, but for a theist, the old standbys of the Robe or Ben Hur are pretty sound and Mel Gibson's passion is the best you are going to get to realization of the Gospel Story, even to using aramaic in it.

There are of course the Hollywood OT epics, which I recall from my boyhood as looking utterly unbelievable for being acted out.

Oh yes, pastures green is great fun though the Plot is pretty bald, with a school nativity scriptwriter's adaptation of the OT played by the cast of Amos 'n' Andy. One scene that stuck in my mind was what I thought was a two second encapsulation of maccabees with an extra in ragged pants running onto the set with an old civil -war cannon and a bit of smoke yelling 'King Herod say he gonna kill all of us!' and while that fits in with history (Herod set about wiping out his Pharisee opposition) I can't ever place where it is in the Bible.

Again, like the Hollywood epics where I was definitely on the side of the revellers and NOT on the side of moses. I recall the old judy in the headscarf playn' the ol' banjo and singin' along for her Joe on de sabbath, and my sympathies wuz with her, not with de Lawd.

If The Ten Commandments is on I like to see E. G. Robinson playing Dathan. I imagine his line, "So, where's your God now, Moses, nyaa, I'm gonna go back and serve the Pharaoh, see! Nyaa, nyaa."

The 10 Commandments with Heston is the old favorite, but I really liked Passion of the Christ by Gibson.

Hollywood race movies aside... absolutely love it! That along with Gone Are the Days! The film adaptation of Purlie.

Aside from the fact that there are no white people in heaven, god smokes cigars and calls for a miracle because his custard doesn't have enough fermament(sic) and then decides to create earth.
