Good. Glad he was "chosen" by the world.

It’s also the largest and oldest pedophile rape organization in human history and I question their morals and ethics myself for not walking away and letting the beast wither and die.

There have certainly been problems with those issues, but even as an ex-catholic I think you're painting with too broad a brush.

There's nothing holy or sacred about popes. They're neither men of god nor chosen by god nor connected to any god.

How did you pluck that figure out of the air?
I have read Evangelicals claim that the RCC killed 100 million "real" Christians in early times, and that was even long before the "Born Agains" had even arrived on the scene.

The topic of the thread is: Is the Pope ordained by God?

The topic is NOT to find every evil ever attributed to the Catholic Church.

How can you prove the Pope was corrupted by Satan?
What, because he is a "world leader"? (as viewed by some).
The term "Satan" just seems to roll off the tongue very easily for some groups.
The fact that the Pope is chosen from within the RCC, is not a revelation.

Not only do I think it is just the right size brush for such a cover -up but I'd bet it is still being used. I could be wrong. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt - all the time that no more scandal breaks. "One more crash, and they're finished".

And their panoply of faked saints.

OK, I do NOT think the Pope is ordained by God. Mainly because "God" means different things to different people and different cultures.

Ordination is a totally human ceremony and you have to have humans who give that ordination meaning in order for the office to be upheld. It is only that there are so many Catholics who recognise him as a leader which makes world leaders give him any credence.

If you or I tried this, no-one would take any notice. If no-one recognised the office as official, then basically he would be one man with a superiority complex.

Why?

Do you not condemn neo-NAZIs en masse?

Oh, yes, you do. And, pray tell, why?

It's because of what they represent and their past actions.

Why should popes and catholics be treated differently?

What kind of god ordains a pope who would take sides with Mussolini?

What kind of god ordains a pope who condemns Americans to Hell for having the audacity to choose their own leaders by elections instead of having them chosen by the pope in consultation with the pope?

One gets the impression that both god and popes are anti-Democracy.

The whole idea that another man can absolve you of your sins is farcical.

I meant "man" because women aren't allowed.

And, why aren't women allowed? Is it because god said so, or is it because popes -- who have zero connection to any god-thing whatsoever -- don't like women?

At one point, the clergy were allowed to marry. Why did god change his mind? Was it really god who had yet another change of heart and change of program who decided the clergy can't marry, or was that just popes acting like the misogynists they always have been?

What kind of god would ordain a misogynist?

What kind of people would genuflect to a god who hates women?

How is misogyny any different than Jew-hating, you know, like the neo-NAZIs?

Why did god let popes fail?

And popes did fail, because if popes didn't fail, then Eastern Orthodoxy wouldn't exist. Protestantism wouldn't exist, either.

The whole idea that popes are the Vicar of Christ on Earth ordained by god is absurd and fanciful.
