We should observe other people, judge their behavior, and decide if their traits are ones we want to incorporate into our own character or traits we want to avoid.
That's what I did when I met a cute young lady in 1970. I decided I liked and admired her traits, so I married her, and what I have learned from her has made me a better person and a happier person.
Yep, we sure are.

I did the same thing in 1957. We courted for 6 years and then married. I echo the results you have had.
dont you ever think that "something" is keeping us debating and fighting and waisting time , distracting us from more important things,.. like life?
does it really feel good to judge everything and everyone based on beliefs>
are were supposed to judge others?
Debate and learning about other's views I think is a good thing...I have learned a lot since I joined this forum, and learning is always positive. I don't consider it a waste of time at all.
If you are familiar with The Scientific Method...those scientists never did come back with the meaning of life.
We've been occupying ourselves for generations, and it's getting old, isn't it.
On the contrary - they have pretty much explained the answer, but it isn't the one the religious like so they don't accept it and keep saying that science 'hasn't found it'.

Demanding that scientists come up with 'plan' for us matching the ones that the various religions have invented is doing just that. It is better (as in the entire debate) to accept the conclusion that the facts indicate than to insist that a search be kept up for the preferred 'answer' which actually isn't there. If religion would cease flogging this dead horse, we could indeed find better things to do with our time.
My mother used to say that watching other people is the most fun activity of all -- and it's free.
I just like adding another dimension to it: interacting with other people. And if that often invites debate--all right! Let's get down and get dirty.
I might learn a thing or two.
