Do you belong to a cult. Answer each question to get you score....truthfully now, baby Jesus is watching you!!

Do you belong to an organisation that.

Has lots of meetings?
Keeps you so busy?
Has an infallible leader?
Expects purity?
Has rigid principles?
Expects confessions?
Speaks a cliché-ridden language?
Has simple answers to most of life's questions?
Makes you feel secure?
Makes you feel more special than non- members?
Frowns on expressions of doubts?
Claims absolute truth?
Is reluctant to allow you to leave?
Controls information about its own history?
Always says you are free to choose?

How did you score out of 15?

Do you belong to an organisation that.

Talks about the absence of God a lot?
Keeps you busy?
You are the infallible leader?
Expects convienent living arrangements with the opposite sex?
Has rigid principles concerning the existence of God?
Expects everyone not believe in God?
Speaks a cliché-ridden language?
Has simple answers to most of life's questions?
Makes you feel secure?
Makes you feel more special than theists?
Frowns on expressions of doubts regarding the existence of God?
Claims absolute truth?
Is reluctant to allow you to leave?
Controls information about its own history?
Always says you are free to choose?

Food for thought

ALL religions are cults. Look up the word in a dictionary.

YOU COULD NEVER BE DUPED INTO A CULT...COULD YOU?

Hmm. I'm not sure what's so wrong with a group that makes you feel secure.

In general, "cult" is such a loaded term these days that I think using it actually discourages people from considering whether their church has the characteristics you list. I tend to prefer "unhealthy" church, in part because it leaves room for a church to be healthy for some people and unhealthy for others, sort of like sugar is worse for diabetics than it is for others.

I'm confused by this thread. I don't know whether the posts are meant to be straightforward, ironic, or manipulative. What exactly are people trying to get at here?

group-any collection or assemblage of persons or things; cluster;

cult- Obsessive, especially faddish, devotion to or veneration for a person, principle, or thing.

I must say I've stumbled over some interesting posts from certain individuals that really fit the bill for the latter of the two.....

The reason I've posted this is to point out that all religions start off as "Cults". There are good cults and bad cults. I see a "Cult" as a small religion. I get offended when people dismiss the LDS religion as a "Cult" meaning something bad.
