I was the same way, until I almost lost my wife. Maybe I'll share the story here someday, I'm not ready yet as it's still being written. Now I say it every chance I get.
I worked with a guy that would say it every time he spoke to his wife on the phone too and thought the same.
Oh, jeez... sorry to hear that, obviously you didn't lose her so that's good news. I really wasn't trying to be judgy when I posted what I did, but yeah, I think sometimes people change when something really scary and nearly tragic happens. Glad to hear she made it.
We say it after every phone conversation, before we leave the house and before bed. It might seem like a lot to some people but if I were to die today I would want my last words to my husband to be "I love you" and not “don't forget to pick up milk on your way home."
We also call each other pet names, write love notes to each other and do all of the other sappy things that so many people on here seem to find so disgusting. Some of us like that stuff.
Why not use both actions and words? I wouldn't be happy with just one or the other.
My husband said something this morning (his agreement to do something that I was angsting on) that made me fall in love with him all over again. It was a "this is why I love you so much" moment.
