In its early days, when you had to have a .edu email address to use it and it was focused on individual university networks, Facebook was a great hookup site. That's essentially what it was designed to be. Now that its purpose has shifted to demographic data mining for marketers and its audience is largely older people with children, I think the young hookup crowd has moved on to Tinder and the like.

I use facebook to keep in touch with family and check conditions/events at the ski resorts i frequent.

I don't think I've posted a status for 4 years! I've messaged a few family members here and there though!
