A woman wears a ring (not a band type ring but looks more like a full finger ring with open circular areas with possible diamonds but they are flat, not protruding) on her left middle finger. What could her status be or can this just be a fashion ring?

Middle finger -- fashion.

If it's the ring finger, these days you have to ask in order to be certain. People who are not married sometimes wear a ring. I've also learned that people who are married sometimes don't wear a ring. I think it's all confusing and absurd.

Hello it's not a wedding ring if it's on the middle finger.

yeah i suspected its not a wedding ring if it's not on the ring finger. but if they are no longer married and date casually or whatever can it be some kind of promise ring or eternity ring or would even those not go on the middle finger? im trying to figure out if there is some kind of renewed commitment either from an ex or a new person because i never saw rings on her before

this is a very different situation. this woman is 8 years older than me and we;re both professionals. shes a co worker and probably older than the average examples seen here who are usually in their 20's or 30's. i used to get infatuated a lot in my 30's and 20's but it all subsided and ive just been mellow. and ive been proud of that but all of a sudden ive fallen really bad. i feel totally powerless to control my feelings.

Yeah, whether she's wearing a ring or not is not your biggest problem.
