What influenced you to make the decision to remain premaritally celibate?
I guess it was really a combination of things, that influenced why I decided it would be best for me personally, not to engage in premarital intimacy:
1. The view as a marriage as a sacred bond of love: for me, my personal ethics and religious beliefs meant that sharing physical intimacy could only happen with a beloved wife, in the context of a lasting, committed, permanent married relationship, i.e., something that should ideally only happen between a wife and a husband, who love each other. Also the view of marriage as primarily an endeavor to be taken for the purposes of starting a loving family, and for procreation.
2. The desire for long-term relationships, that would actually have to the potential to lead to a marriage (as opposed to short-term relationships). Again, my biggest dream in life, and more than anything else ever since I was about 9 years old, was to be married in the future to a loving and caring wife.
3. Personal emotional temperament: I have always known that if I were to engage in haphazard or temporary intimacy without having something more lasting or permanent (i.e., marriage) could have the potential to lead to grievous emotional harm and scarring for me, due to my own emotional makeup. Being pre-maritally intimate would only end up making me feel guilty, unclean, or ashamed of myself.
ETA: also, being a rather huge fan of love ballads and love songs where the artists are singing about things such as long-term love and commitment, admittedly played a significant role, as well.

44, male, between 15-20. At least 5 of them I wish I hadn't. I'm more about quality than quantity.
