I mean heterosexuals. I do think women are more likely to tone it down because humans in general are pretty nutty when it comes to sex. It's to avoid judgment. I don't know if men pad their numbers.

average though has to be the same. the median could differ, that would be if there were a few mega-sluts in one of the gender accounting for a significant portion of the sex for that gender. consider a population of john, joe, mike, mary, suzie and lisa. gals have each have had 1 partner, but john has had three partners while joe and mike are still virgins. genders have same average, but female median is 1 while male median is zero

I don't think it makes a difference in this poll or similar, since the bar is capped at a pretty low number. Further, I imagine both would be quite similar in the population as well independent of high numbers given the sheer volume of polled populations.

I swear, men can be so naive sometimes. Many of the EXACT SAME girls in college who had various partners over 4 Spring Breaks, frat parties, barhopping on weekends, trips to Europe over the summer and on study abroad semesters...put on a virginal white wedding dress at age 25-28 and marry men who have absolutely no idea how many different men their bride has really had sex with.

actually the median versus the mean could be an interesting thing to look at, it might tell us something about how many purity ring and wilt chamberlain types there really are floating out there (more than i think it would tell us about any difference between the genders)

I have the same opinion of men who do the same thing and I myself do not like the double standards on this. I just have different values, that's all. I'm not a prude and enjoy sex myself, but I just don't view things in the same manner as some of you do.
