These days clients prefer to drive their own car. No one wants to be held hostage by a realtor.

As I was clicking on this link, I was wondering if I was going to be the Lone Ranger when I stated Realtors don't drive buyers around these days. I'm sure there's the exception.

I am in the Washington, DC suburban market.

I have a Ford Edge. It works just fine for carrying clients.

Planning to buy a new car by year end, and it will likely be another crossover SUV. Maybe a Volvo XC60.
A lot of people find it easier to enter and exit a small SUV than a car that sets lower.

Not true. Having a Buyer in the car gives me a chance to educate them about the current housing market, the contracts, Inspections and get to know their tastes.

I've driven a Mid Size Suv.... Chev Tahoe's and now a Honda Pilot for the last 14 years. A car is OK but make sure it's a 4 door.

I'm a tall guy so SUV's give me more room and allows me to through signs and stuff in the back.

Carson City technically extends over Lake Tahoe. Get an SUV or crossover. Make sure there is room to take tourists and their stuff to see a "vacation home".

I was a buyer last summer and was driven around by my agent. Of course, it was only me. If I had kids in tow, we would have driven ourselves. To cover all possibilities, a large 4-door sedan or a small SUV (too high off the ground is hard on older folks) would be best IMHO.

I'm a buyer. I'd prefer a four door sedan, as getting in and out of SUV's is harder on us older folks. A small SUV, maybe, but I'd still prefer a nicer four door sedan.

Whatever you choose, I'd suggest two things:

1. Get something that gets decent gas mileage. He'll be driving around a lot.
2. Ask him what he wants. Don't make the decision for him.
