I'm assuming Duke is a teaching hospital. But would this be the entire Duke health system or just the main hospital? I really wish you could find this information on the hospital websites or there was some kind of list somewhere.
I'm trying to apply only to teaching hospitals and its making it really difficult because I can't figure out if they are or not.

Major teaching hospitals/academic medical centers include DUMC which is the main Duke Campus in Durham and UNC in Chapel Hill.
Other Duke affiliate hospitals include Durham Regional and Duke Raleigh Hospital which are not teaching hospitals as far as interns, residents, fellows etc. They may have nursing students, radiology students etc. The same goes for Rex Hospital which is a UNC affiliate in Raleigh. WakeMed is not an academic center.
WakeMed occasionally takes UNC residents from time to time but it is not a major initiative of the hospital. Duke Residents rotate at Durham Regional and the Durham VA on a regular basis.

Ooops, forgot about the VA - yes, Duke's residents rotate there as well.
Yes I would prefer a teaching hospital with interns, residents, and fellows. For example - I work at UPMC (Unniversity of pittsburgh medical center). There is a main hospital in the middle of the city called upmc presby which is the largest hospital in the upmc system. I work at the 2nd largest hospital called UPMC Shadyside and we sitll have interns, residents, fellows.
So the only teachin ghospitals are DUMC, and UNC in Chapel Hill? And then the VA, correct? I already applied at Rex Hospital thinking it was a teaching facility as well, oops.

Like I previously stated, I believe all hospitals in the area are "teaching" hospitals. I believe Rex is now owned by UNC. I've talked to people who said they're doing their residency at Rex. And I know WakeMed has residents because last time I visited the facility I was upset by the number of residents handling my situation and always getting different answers of what's going on. I wish there was a local hospital that wasn't a teaching facility. I, personally, can't stand the fact that I have someone learning on me and never getting a straight answer.
