Ok people need to pick a bank this week. I know some of you have reasons why you bank where you do, let's hear it. I need online banking and ATM and not a lot of fees.
Haven't banked in the triangle or 14 years. Which Bank do you like? Why?

I use Wachovia. Their customer service has been very good, and there are many, many branches in and around Raleigh. I banked with Wachovia when I lived in VA, and they have branches in all of the East Coasts states that I visit.

There was another thread posted not too long ago (last week?) where a poster wanted help choosing between Bank of America and Wachovia. I'm sure if you searched for it you'd get lots of opinions, pros and cons, on each institution. Good luck!

I use NetBank Welcomes You to Personal Financial Services for checking, and ING DIRECT - Save Your Money! for savings. Moving does not effect my banking at all.

If you can get another ingdirect account holder to sent you an invite to ingdirect you'll get $25 deposited into your account at opening.

If you qualify join the North Carolina State Employees' Credit Union. Its the best bank in the area IMO.

For on-line banking (free) and convenience of ATM availability (both Wake County and nationally) you won't find better then Bank of America.

Rich, send me an invite, would you please? I've wanted to go with ING for a while, but never got off the dime to do it.
