We had Washington Mutual in CA and we were very happy with them. They are not out here so we went with Wacovia. They have been great. Funny thing since trying to close our accounts with WM and trying to get bank checks with them etc to buy a home out here they have been awful. INsulting as if we have not been banking with them for the past 7 years. SO bad in fact that they verbally accused a bank manager at Wacovia that she was not a certified notary and for all they knew she could be lieing over the phone and fax. It was awful. WM will not let us close out bank accounts unless we come in do it in person! The closest one is Atlanta GA! Luckily DH is flying back to CA for business in Dec. Sorry a bit off track but needless to say that Wacovia has gone above and beyond while handelding these awful situations with WM. So now we are thankful to be rid of WM!
I've used Wachovia for years. First Union and Wachovia merged so that they are all one now. My daughter uses Bank of America. She says they are all over and she is a traveler. So there you have it! Wachovia was started in NC and was local until they began buying other banks and expanding. Vicki
