Does anybody have kids in the Wiley International school program? I went to this magnet school for a tour on a rainy day, and was very taken aback by the digusting moldy smell in the old buildings. It seemed very unhealthy to me. Has anyone else noticed this at Wiley? I love the program from what I have seen, but want my child to be healthy and safe in school. Also, apart from the smell, I'd love feedback from people who have their child in school here. My child will be starting Kindergarten next year, and Wily is one of my favorite magnet options so far. Also, Combs Leadership and Powell are some of our other interests. Thanks for any info.

I can't help, but figured I'd bump this for you by saying that this school is right down the street from me and I think it's SO precious! Too bad about the mold smell; I hope that was a freak occurrence!

My sons go to Wiley and we love it! They are in second grade and in their third year of taking German. They have also been introduced to several other languages and cultures, and they put a lot of emphasis on respecting others. It's an all around great school. I don't think it smells unhealthy, it just has that old smell because it's an old building.

Old buildings can have better indoor air quality than new ones because the new ones are sometimes all sealed up for the sake of energy efficiency. But mold is not good, in and old or new building!

Of course, with the actions being taken by the new school board, do not assume that it will stay a magnet.
