Very pleased with our experience at Washington, from 1st - 5th grade. They offer many electives each quarter, and the subjects are very varied so the kids get to explore different topics. In addition, technology, music, dance, arts are part of the specials that the kids participate in on a weekly basis. The GT classes are very challenging and allow the kids to get a more in-depth view of math/science/reading/writing. Like at any other school, you do have the occasional teacher (2 in the 5 years that we were at the school) that are a bit of a challenge but, overall, the teachers and staff are great. The kids go to different classrooms for their electives and specials, so they meet a lot of teachers and other students along the way. Kids love recess outside, as they have a small track. Their gym is in pretty good shape as well. PTA is very active. We truly enjoyed our experience at Washington and felt that we benefited from the GT Magnet program.

Thank you for answer. It's really good to heard that because that's one of my options. I'm just waiting like crazy for the results of the application. My son it's going to K. .

I have a young child at Poe via the magnet program - it's very safe, very fun for kids, and I feel very comfortable in the school. Here's what I love about it: the family type atmosphere, the happiness of the kids, the GT elective options, the AIG Basics program, and his pathway to great middle schools and a great high school. My son is incredibly happy there and we could not be more pleased!
