My wife and I used to go to a pizza place in Holly Springs called Homegrown, or something like that, until she was diagnosed with Celiac disease. We haven't gone there for a while, so not sure it's still there.
Homegrown is still there as far as I know. I wasn't impressed with it. My husband picks up pizza from Papa John's on the way home from work. We live near the intersection you're speaking of. We haven't found anything we like better.
Homegrown is good but the service was poor the one time we went there.
Four places you should try:
Cozzolinos, at Kildaire Farm & Penny. New York style.
Original NY Pizza, Holly Springs Rd. & Bass Lake Rd. Very similar to Cozzolinos.
Rudinos at Sunset Lake & Holly Springs Rd.
Paradise pizza near Ten-Ten and Hwy 1.
These pizzas are somewhat different from each other. Try them and see if you like any. We like them all.
I enjoy Homegrown. Definitely better than average in my opinion. I also recommend Assagio. We live closer to Homegrown so that is normally our first choice, but I would say that Assagio has better pizza.
Home Grown is rancid. It's one step above Jason's Pizza in Fuquay. I prefer Chicago over New York pizza, but that leaves me without any options around here. I've actually grown to like NY style pizza and would recommend NY Pizza in the Ho Springs Crossing.
Thanks for the info everyone. We tried Assagio's one time and it will be the last. The place was very dirty and service was slow. We are deciding between Homegrown and NY Pizza right now, for dinner tonight (take-out). I am very much flip flopping. Maybe I should buy one from each joint. I love leftover cold pizza.
