Particularly Central Regional Hospital? I am a nurse considering a travel assignment there. I know there are threads to search for but the information is sporadic and I have to make a decision ASAP, the assignment would start nov. 2nd. I recently interviewed for a position at the VA in Asheville and still haven't heard if I got that job but I'm thinking no. Would Butner be a decent place to live? What are the pros and cons. I don't need too much to be happy just a decent gym to go to and some bars within walking distance to catch games at. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you been inside CRH? I regularly go to the Raleigh campus (granted I know the Butner one is brand new so probably nicer) for my job, and couldn't imagine working in that environment. It's not about the people they serve at all.... it's the fact that there is basically no sunlight and really looks like a bonified mental asylum that you see in the old movies. I hope the Butner location is a brighter, happier place. I only point that out because (unless I was desperate for a job, which could very well be the case in this economy) I couldn't work in that environment 40 hrs each week. It's all I can do to be in there the 2-3 hrs a week that I have to be there. This is going off on a tangent - and it isn't answering your questiona about the location-, so I'll stop, but I always wonder how much better the patients might do in a better environment. Annnnnnyways, good luck to you!
Well, I worked there for a while (not CRH, but John Umstead back when it was still John Umstead) and there really is not much out there! I personally could NOT live there. It's pretty remote, rural, a few small restaurant, no real bars that I remember. There *was* a gym. It was a one stop light kind of town and mostly an institutional area. There is also a federal prison in Butner and several other smaller facilities. A lot of the people I knew that worked there lived in Durham. It's about a 20 minute from there.
