The only time I would ever consider T-Mobile is if I was in one of the major cities (nowhere in the Triangle counts!) and NEVER planned on taking my mobile phone anywhere.

Verizon is the best network out there by far. I'm saying this as a fairly satisfied AT&T customer, by the way.

Wife and I used texting a lot at the recent convention. It is impossible to talk in the arena,so texting is great. We are sticking with VzW for now, but keeping the old Alltel plan rates and the old phones. If we have to go to the VzW plan or if the phones crap out, it will be more $ for less minutes.

That's exactly my concern - right now, we're on an Alltel plan - but my dad is moving to a work phone, meaning my phone plan is going to go up because they'll no longer honor my "Alltel" plan.

But I've got to agree with many of you - the coverage at Tmobile? Not so great. We had a "race" at the Tmobile store to see who could download the cnn page the fastest - and my boyfriend was off and reading pages on his VZW blackberry while I sat there staring at a loading google search screen!!

Well you just answered your own question then! Having coverage when/where you need it trumps all else. No point in having a cheaper plan if you can't access the network to use that cheaper plan.

Haha yeah I guess I did. I asked the question before I visited the T-Mobile store yesterday, and came to that conclusion! Why pay $75 to be frustrated and never use the internet?

Good news though - Verizon is bringing the Google/Android platform to their phone offerings later this year!!

Verizon. I'm a former TMobile customer (with them about 4 years). I got so tired of not having a phone that just worked, because I was in an area that couldn't get a signal from TMobile. I'm so much happier with Verizon. It's more expensive but worth it.

I switched in April from Verizon to T-Mobile because their rules of engagement were skewed.

Service is fine with T-Mobile. Customer service is fine. Phone is fine.

Verizon turned me off when I asked them to switch my plan only for emergency minutes. I would then put a LAN line in place. They refused, saying that I had to honor my contract for a full-service plan. I have no problem with honoring a contract, I had an issue with Verizon saying I couldn't switch to emergency minutes. In other words, they wouldn't negotiate, and lost a three-year subscriber.

My last words were, "So, you are willing to let go of a diligent paying customer of three years, and not allow me to switch over my phone just for emergency minutes."

"Yes" came the reply, "those are the rules."

I didn't understand rules like this, where there's no 'wiggle-room', and so switched (them off).

What exactly is this "emergency minutes" you speak of? I don't understand what you were trying to do. It sounds like you had a monthly subscription of say $40/month and wanted to do pay as you go? If so what you were asking for is unreasonable. You can sign up for Verizon service w/o contracts if you buy your own phone - you signed the contract!

Yes, and I paid off the contract to get away from Verizon.

Emergency minutes is simply that - about 15 minutes, maybe 20. You have your cell for travel, and use it only in an emergency.

But Verizon would not allow me to change my plan from 900 minutes down to the emergency minutes.
