Anyone that has driven down 42 East from 40 knows about the new Walmart shopping center that opens next week. Well on 42 there they have done some widening of the road and put in that traffic light right in front of Walmart. Also on the east bound they put in 2 left turn lanes (that turn North) that are currently blocked off. They can't turn anywhere now, there's just trees there right now.

My question is, anyone have any idea what is planned? Another shopping center? A major road? Two turning lanes is a lot.

it was mentioned elsewhere that they had to put the turn lanes there because it had to offset the opposite turn lanes, even though there are no plans to develop the land across from the new shopping center.

So not sure who else read it, but those turn lanes are for a future shopping center. 650,000 square feet of retail, 450,000 square feet of office, a hotel, condos and apartments. Might not break ground though for a year or so. But they did get approval and have done a lot of survey work.
