First post here and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what areas are good for raising a family? I have my wife, a 2 year old and 1 month old and may have an opportunity to relocate to the area. We would like areas close to contemporary christian churches, shopping, parks, and good restaurants. I applied for a job with Amtrak and if I got the job, I would need to know where to look. I plan to rent for as long as it takes to save the money to buy, unless we are able to find a good deal and get financing in a short time(doubt it lol).

I will continue to read and search the forum, but I was hoping for a quicker, more direct response.

Thanks!

The amenities you describe are available pretty much anywhere in the area. There are many, many decent neighborhoods. If you list out more specifics of what you might be looking for, you're likely to get more specific responses.

OK, to be more specific, we're looking for something similar to the are we are currently in. Most homes in the $195-$275k range, some rural areas on the outskirts about 10-20 minutes from the center of town, income range from $40K-$100k a year, everyone takes pride in thier property; no grass overgrown, trash in the yard, cars on blocks, lol, shopping and dining somewhat upscale but not entirely out of blue collar price range. Those are things I can think of that are here. I'll post anything else I can think of later.

Thanks!
