I am just getting moved in and decided not to move my huge oak desk from NY. I have looked at Staples, OfficeMax, etc., and quite frankly the office furniture they sell is kind of junky. I want a real desk that has real file drawers in it, and is made of real wood. I don't mind something that I might have to assemble, but I just want a real desk. Is there any place in the Raleigh area that would sell something better than the office supply chains, but not be too expensive either?

Try looking at some of the contemporary furniture stores in the area like Nowell's in Cary or Ambiente out by Briar Creek near the Airport. Both will have product on the floor as well as catalogues from which to browse.

There is a furniture store in raleigh called Carolina Tiffany which is going out of business. (They are located off of Capital BLVD).
The last time I was there (about a month ago) they had a beautiful oak mission style desk that was on sale.
They have some good stuff.
Hopefully they are still open.
Good luck.

it doesn't have the filling drawers, however I just bought a nice wood desk from World Market in Triangle Town Center, you can see their selection online, and if you like any of their styles go see it in the store.

I second World Market. Pottery Barn has some good looking desks as well.
