If you're out and about this weekend, stop by our house and speak with hubby. He swims and previously had a membership at Gold's Gym in RTP.

He can tell you where he is swimming now, and the two of you may want to hook up to run the ATT.

Yes, but they filed Chapter 11 (reorganization) and announced they intended to stay open. However, some members of the forum have posted that several of the locations have unexpectedly closed. The information that is currently being provided is that the closings are "temporary."

Has anyone seen any further announcements in the paper or on WRAL?

That's a good idea. I'm still acclimating to living in a real neighborhood with people we actually talk to!

I was an employee at UNC and had a small discount (I think I pay around $50/mo).

What is the deal with RTP Fitness? I saw the signs this weekend when I was out looking at my house and they advertise $169 a month. That seems really low to me. Do they not have a lot of the stuff other gyms have? Has anyone ever been there? What did you think?

Thanks!

Sena

There is a Peak Fitness at Farrington Rd and Hwy 54. I have heard that some of their gyms are closing though.

That is one of the few things I don't like about this area. I used to belong to the Y downtown too, and it was way to far.

I looked at the website for Fitness World a while back and it looked old and not very nice. I always see people in there working out when I am in the shopping center though. The next closest one I know is the gym @ the corner of Farrington Rd and HWY 54 in Chapel Hill.

I am going to check out the UNC Wellness. I didn't know there was one over here.

The UNC Wellness center looks great. I just wish it was more affordable. That is too much for me.

Gold's Gym by the Sheraton on 40 is not far from Southpoint, but it's very no-frills and perhaps going downhill of late. But they do have a pool and racquetball courts.
