We need more land! We want around an acre and we just can not find what we want in Cary. We work in Raleigh. Any suggestions? We still want to be in a subdivision.
Both Falls Lake and Jordan Lake accept motor boats. I think Lake Wheeler still does too.
I think you might want to give more details on what you want, besides 1 acre in a subdivision. At what price point? How big a house? Do you want new construction? Are schools important to you? There are lots of places that you can find 1+ acre, but the other factors vary wildly.
Well, I have a laundry list of what I want...but I want to keep it general.
Our hope is to find:
A 3 car garage (to keep a boat) and are looking to keep the experience under $650,000.
1.5 story
We would consider looking into building
More importantly we are looking for a smaller town feel then Cary, not like Cary is huge, but we really need more land and would like to see people around when we go out to eat and stuff...and my husband really wants to boat. We off of Lake Norman for a year and really miss the water.
Wake Forest zip code can give you an acre of land. Wake Forest Proper aka within the city limits is very tough to get that much land. But search the 27587 zip code and you will get lot of houses with that kind of land. But it will depend on your price range. You would be looking at $280k and up.
Falls Lake allows motor, paddle, row, and steam boats. All depends what your boating fancy is! Of yea they even allow electric boats so not only is the water green but the boater can be too!

Well just looked at zip code 27587 Wake Forest and see there are 107 homes for sale that are from $650k to $4.5M that have 3+ car garages so I don't think you would need to build and they are all close to Falls Lake!

We bought a house in the area that Mike just mentioned. . . . . Swift Creek. . . . and I'd agree that this area would be a good possibility for you. I think that Lake Wheeler may be a little small for what you want, but they do allow motorized boats. I see fishing boats there all the time, but never ski boats or jet skis. If all else fails, you can head southeast for 30-45 minutes and get to Harris Lake.
Our house is in a small subdivision (20 houses) built in the late 90s. We have a 1.5 story house with 4 bedroom + 2 bonus, a 4-car garage, and over 3/4 acre. We got it for less than $400K. We are about a 20 minute drive up Lake Wheeler Rd to downtown Raleigh.
If you want something more expensive, there is a subdivision next to us called Westbury Manor. These houses are built around a small lake and seem to be priced closer to your $650K pricerange. Here's a link to a sample house in Westbury Manor. Coincidentally it is a 1.5 story with a 3 car garage priced at $650K, but only .6 acres.
