According to this article: Home builders struggle to pay tax bills :: WRAL.com home builders will be able to pay there property taxes over time in payments.

Does this seem fair? I mean why the heck do they get a break? Did the county tell them to build more homes then they could sell?

How come current home owners don't have this option. I am so sick of local/state/federal gov't bailing out everyone except the hard working citizens of this country.

The article says they've also set up plans for 400 taxpayers who cannot pay their bills in one sum.

ETA: I learned in 5th grade that life's not fair (I had to write a 200 word essay every time I said it and trust me I wrote a whole lot of essays because I'm a slow learner).

BTW, I don't mean to imply that I don't agree with you about everyone getting bailed out. I've yet to receive anything and anticipate a massive future tax increase plus high inflation in the next couple of years to pay for all of this nonsense. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can really do about it until I vote in 2010 (which is a long way off).

if they don't give them some kind of option, all its going to do is cause more tax payers to shell out money when the county has to go after all of these builders because they can't pay their taxes, and then more liens will be filed against these lots that the builders have, more liens that they can't pay, so they can't sell them, and its a never ending vicious cycle.

Well if it can't be 'Fair' and can only be 'Unfair' than I am for ALL of us Tax Payers getting the same treatment as the Builders and Developers negotiate. This way its not fair to the tax collectors or the people that can't pay on time.

We all win and we all lose at the same time!
