Anybody here take a Taxi from Bedford or Falls River to RDU airport recently? If so, do you mind sharing what the cost was. I will be travelling next week and trying to see if it would be cheaper to take a taxi vs. paying to park for 6 days.

Thanks!

Haven't done it in a while, however, I'd guess each way would at least $25 + tip each way. My wife and I also had some frustrations w/ getting the cabs to our house in Falls River for the ride to the airport, so that was a frustration. You should be able to park at one of the RDU Park-n-rides for that amount or less over 6 days. Also, consider one of the off-airport parking facilities, and check their websites b/c they often offer coupons that'll save you a buck or two per day.

Hope you have a great trip and a Merry Christmas!

My daughter paid $37 from the airport to North Raleigh (I'm near Strickland Road).

You can look up the standard taxi rates. I looked at them earlier this year and I believe it's close to:

$3.60 Drop Charge (includes $1.00 fuel charge)
$5.60 for first mile
$2.00 each additional mile

Depends on the number of miles.

Preflight isn't any cheaper than the RDU lot, so there's really no advantage there. I'd keep my ride at my house, just cuz it's a bit safer than the airport lot. But I've never had problems with the airport lot either.

I live in Falls River and came to the conclusion that unless you'll be gone for over a week parking at the airport was cheaper than a taxi.

Maybe not but their shuttles run a heck of a lot more often!! I'm always waiting for that damn orange lot bus. 20+ minutes sometimes. I'll see 2-3 preflight vans before one bus.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, it looks like paying $6 a day for parking will be cheaper than taking a taxi after all. Thanks again for the help and have a great holiday!

Depending on the day, I will pick you up and bring you to the airport for free. Seriously.
