I have some friends who will be relocating to the Raleigh area and they are looking for a friendly, casual, non-denominational church. They are wanting one that has less than 300 people and one that won't freak them out (like from people screaming or shaking or stuff like that).
It's a casual church that is serious about pursuing authentic relationships with one another and God. Their core values are Community, Spirituality and Influence. Their primary encouragement to their community is to listen carefully and obey tenaciously (not to the minister but to the stirrings of the Divine).
They are not so much concerned with keeping good person/bad person tick marks, but rather they trust God to be working in the lives of his people to heal and develop them. The community is there to befriend and support one another as they walk their individual spiritual journeys.
My church, Umstead Park United Church of Christ is amazing. I didn't grow up going to church, so I was very hesitant about joining a church before I found this one. UPUCC is a very progressive church and open to all. Here's the website: Umstead Park United Church of Christ - Home
Thanks for your reply. But I was looking for non-denominational churches in Raleigh or Cary. Umstead Park United Church of Christ is a part of the UCC denomination.
I think all of those are "big" churches -- like 500 or more people. My friends want something that is smaller but growing (100-300 in attendance). Enough families to make it feel like a community but not so many that you have to join a small group to get to see the same people each week.

They are looking for a Christian non-denominational. Isn't Unity a denomination?
