Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, and lets not forget the newest trend...every housewife needs a Hummer!! LOL

OK just as long as you know that not every woman in NY or Jersey is fake like that- and the fakes have lots to say to the more natural women in NY-NJ too!
Also, "not for nothing" is a sort of lower class phrase, so while they are dissing you, just remember that where they are from, by merely using the phrase they are branding themselves as tacky, to the more preppy types from back north. I can assure you that it is rare to hear "not for nothing" at a country club (or even just at Talbots or Trader Joe's) up north!!!

Thanks. Your explanation clarifies the BMH or BYH comment. A direct "what do you mean by that" won't be necessary.

Oh my word. Indirectness is definitely not British. I have British relavtives (by marriage) and they most certainly ARE direct. Very. Though they are amzingly polite about it. It's almost comical how polite they are.

Not for nuttin' but...LOL fake blonde hair. My family is from SC, not here, but closer than NJ and she said that all the women down there have huge bleach blonde 80's hair because they are always a few decades behind in the south.

Her words, not mine. I'm from the NE and I color my hair darker than the original, just makes it more shiney. I like it that way. And yes, I have double D's but they are real. I've had my nails done once, for a friend's wedding, and I popped them off right after (I play sports I can't be having plastic nails!) And I've owned all of my vehicles outright, and no one has purchased them for me. And I wouldn't know about being a housewife, as I've worked since I was 14 years old. I wouldn't know about the wife needing a hummer, but perhaps...

But I would never tell someone else what to do with her hair or nails or vehicle or career. hmmm guess this stereotype, like most others on this board is WRONG. But Bless your heart, I guess you just didn't know any better.
